a kind of therapy

there's a hidden secret
that we bury within our hearts
embedded in our minds
to keep our pain away from any light
that might eradicate it
because what are we
without the pain that made us?



do they ever stop to think
past all the tears
and fears
and burning cigarettes
that's she's human


they picked at the petals
pulled at the seams
broke her
until all she could do
was become a weapon


"if I drift away don't wake me up."
"why?" he asked.
"because the world built in my head is easier to 
live in than the one that surrounds us."


perhaps it's because
we let life tell us
what we're supposed to do next
when we're still just children
trying to figure out
who we are
